Warhammer 40k: Ordo Malleus Daemonhunter

With 8th edition here, there's a fresh sense of urgency about clearing the desk of the in-progress models, so here's my 90-minute paintjob for June - a Daemonhunterof the Ordo Malleus.

It's only now I realise how much I dislike the pose on the model. The Inquisitor figure from a while back is far superior, and benefits from not having the ridiculous leaning forward. At some point I should learn how to convert models, or at least how to cut the back out of knees.

  1. I have one of those sitting around myself, and yeah, I have really mixed feelings about the sculpt/pose. If it were plastic or resin, I'd probably have a go at fixing it, but pewter is just too much trouble. I really do like the overall aesthetic and the detailing, tho, which is why I picked it up, and you've done a great job picking that out. The purple main does a great job of implying the power and stature of the inquisition, and the bright green hood and the orange of the Force Rodd complement perfectly.

    1. Cheers WestRider! Yes, that's a good shout on not fiddling with pewter. If it was plastic, I'd probably have swapped the entire lower torso from below the belt buckle.

The detail is lovely, I enjoy the character in the older models - the tiny, imprecise nature of the pieces is very pleasing. Contrasts nicely against newer, exacting pieces.
